3G Is an Alternative to Fixed Line Internet?

3G may seem an interesting and cheap alternative for your regular internet line at home. But is it really?

It seems inevitable that mobile internet and classic Internet increasingly will push into the background. The mobile climbing ever higher speeds and the availability of 3G are better each month.

The theoretical speeds of HSPA (up to 14.4 Mbit / s) in Belgium and especially the Netherlands met are also more than enough to smooth surfing. Yet there are some things you need to take.

Fast 3G

If your home is not too much you download and internet usage under 2 GB per month, it can indeed be interesting to your regular ISP to turn out and exclusively for mobile internet to choose. The monthly fees are in many of the subscriptions are much lower.

You do not also take into account installation or connection charges, because everything goes through a SIM card. However, you should first check whether you have a fast 3G connection at home. Fortunately, a 3G router placed anywhere in the house, because no cables are needed.

3G throughout the house can safely share with a classic router, although there is an important condition: the router, 3G modem support. There is at this moment sometimes go wrong, because there are currently only a limited number of devices with 3G can handle.

Huawei is one of the producers who take the lead, with routers at speeds up to 28.8 Mbit / s (HSPA +) can handle. Ideal for the future, because the speed will be the coming years is likely to increase.

The built-in Wi-Fi-N signal also ensures that you are anywhere in your home you can enjoy 3G connection. The router has four LAN ports for anyone who likes his computer with a network cable.

On Displacement

Besides, there are mobile home routers to move your 3G connection to share with others. A good example is the D-Link DIR457. This router has an internal battery that you two hours of fun guaranteed internet. The only drawback is the limited support speed up to 3.6 Mbit / s.

Now that sounds a mobile router handy, but they are not very popular. Most Smartphone today almost all of whom called hotspot feature, allowing you your phone into a portable router. So share your mobile internet with others. More and more car brands now have in their list of options to move a hotspot function is ever to stay connected.

The improved external antenna, the reception is often better than traditional USB into your laptop, making this option increasingly used by people who want to go online.

In short, a mobile-Internet subscription may well be an alternative to fixed line internet, but you should be aware of the limitations. The download limits are much tighter and the rate is strongly dependent on the mobile host. Who does not download much at home and HSPA speed surfing, such a switching.

5 Tips To Optimize Your URL’s

SEO can be classified into two parts – On page SEO & Off page SEO. URL optimization is a part of on page SEO since you have to do the necessary changes in your site itself. URL optimization is very important if you aim at ranking higher in search engines. It’s believed that the URL’s are given more importance than the page title and that’s why you need to optimize your post URL.

Here are a few tips to optimize your blog’s URL’s:

1. Remove The Unnecessary Words

Before hitting the publish button, always make it a point to optimize your URL and remove the unnecessary words from it. What words are you supposed to remove in order to rank better? Let me explain it using an example:
Suppose if your post is titled “Google Chrome – The Best Browser For Bloggers”. By default your URL will be xyz.com/google-chrome-the-best-browser-for-bloggers
In order to rank better, I would suggest you to use  the following URL – xyz.com/google-chrome-best-browser-bloggers
Removing the unnecessary words like the, for, when and others helps you shorten the post URL and eventually rank better in Google.

2. Keep It Short

Unless you are targeting a perfect long tail keyword, it’s recommended to keep the post URL short. A shorter URL ranks better in search engines than the ones which are too long. A URL which has the important keywords and is short, ranks better!

3. Important Keywords First

Another thing is that search engines usually focus on first few words of your URL. That’s why you must make sure that the most important keywords are in the beginning of your URL. This increases the chance of ranking higher.

4. Don’t stuff your URL with keywords

Suppose if you are writing a post titled Google Chrome Setup, in your URL just use xyz.com/google-chrome-setup. Don’t add more keywords like xyz.com/google-chrome-setup-install
Stuffing your URL with keywords may work for a short time, but it’s not a long term method! I don’t recommend keyword stuffing neither in your title, nor in your description and not in the URL as well!

5. Proper Redirection

If by chance you used a wrong URL for any of your post and its already indexed in Google and if you want to change your URL, follow the above tips and make sure you redirect the old URL to the new one properly. Always use a 301 redirect. A 301 redirect will help you in changing the old URL with the new one easily. This will also ensure no loss of traffic and link juice.

5 Smartest Ways To Protect Your Online Identity

Anyone who uses the internet is vulnerable to various viruses and threats. Many of these viruses are designed to extract and save the personal information of online users. Scam artists then use this information to commit identity theft. Thankfully, there are a few simple ways that internet users can protect themselves against this crime.

1. Use an Anti-Virus Software

Anti-virus software programs are designed to protect computers from spyware, adware and viruses. If a computer has an anti-virus software installed, it will be very difficult for scam artists to spy on web users. This product stops viruses from scanning the hard drive or web browser for credit card information and other personal data.

2. Install a Firewall

The modern computer comes with a firewall program. Those who have older machines will have to install a firewall themselves. This program alerts computer users when an outside source tries to access their computer. It also protects the system from unauthorized flows of data.

3. Approach Emails Cautiously

One of the most common ways to download a virus is to open an unknown email attachment. Internet users should not open attachments unless they know who sent the message. It is important to be aware that scam artists are now crafting their emails to appear as though they are from trusted websites. However, most banks or prominent companies will never send emails with attachments. Nor will they request a password via email.

4. Do Not Give Out Social Security Numbers to Untrusted Sources

Many are people are unaware of the importance of their social security number. If a scam artist gets their hands on this number, they can easily find out sensitive financial information. Consumers should be aware that reputable online stores will not ask their customers for their social security number.

5. Diversify Account Passwords

A recent study has disclosed some alarming facts about internet users and their passwords. Many people use simple passwords that can easily be guessed. Some examples of these are “password” and “password1″. Unfortunately, these web users also use the same password for every website they use. This is not wise as scam artists can obtain these passwords without much difficulty. Once they have the password, they will be able to access websites posing as the web user. This can be avoided by choosing a complex password. Good passwords are difficult to guess and have a combination of letters and numbers. Ideally, people will use different passwords for different websites. This will give them extra protection if one of their passwords is compromised.
Identity theft which has the potential to ruin lives. Many victims of this crime have found that their credit rating has affected. This has impacted their ability to get work and housing. They have also found it difficult to get approved for a loan. Due to the serious consequences of identity theft, all internet users should take the precautions discussed above. It may also be worthwhile getting a quality alarm system. Some people use online data to organize burglaries.

How to Protect Legacy Host Applications?

Many of today’s top enterprises now have advanced infrastructures for IT security.  However, even when many layers of protection are integrated, inadequate security methods can compromise the security of critical data.

However, there are ways to secure legacy host applications.  Modern measures for security typically include encryption when passing through non-secured networks.  These measures also include features like centralized identity management and centralized access control.   There are also access control points where access to resources is audited and monitored.  Further, centralized threat monitoring is employed.  This means that traffic going both in as well as out is scanned for intrusion detection.

If a company has a variety of different applications and servers, it can be difficult for all of the security practices to be adequately monitored and enforced.  That is why modern security architecture is so important.  When a company has a central point of control for handling security, it can be extremely valuable.

Many first-generation legacy hosts used SSL connections that linked the client to the host.  While there was encryption of the data and passwords, this “tunnel” often defeated other security measures.  As a result, it could be difficult to track information passing through the network.
There are other limitations to the SSL architecture as well.  For example, authentication under this strategy tends to be not only weak, but also decentralized.  Unfortunately, short passwords are all that protect many hosts.  Further, these passwords are not even case sensitive.

Additionally, the fact that there is no centralized control over resources also is a major negative.  Another issue is that even unauthenticated traffic manages to pass through to the host.  This factor is due to the encrypted SSL tunnel.  As a result, traffic must be let through even when the client and content are unknown.  The encryption of content offers yet another issue.  Traffic coming in and going out cannot be scanned with devices to monitor security or inspect content.

Attachmate offers a framework that includes centralized management of security.  Traffic that is passing through the host is controlled centrally.  This strategy eliminates potential logistical problems that often come along with security policies being enforced separately through backend hosts.

Convert Computer Files for Free Using Online File Converter Tool

As time rolls forward it seems that the number of software applications grows substantially every year, and with this increase in software comes an influx of file formats (file types). No longer do we have a single type of file to store a text document. We now have:
  • the “txt” file for simple text
  • the “rtf” file for coloured or sized text
  • the “doc” file for Microsoft Word’s tex
  • the “odt” file for OpenOffice’s text.
With regards to pictures we have:
  • the “gif” for clip art
  • the “jpg” for photographs
  • the “psd” file for specialty Photoshop pictures.

File Formats

The major problem with file formats is that they can only be opened by specific programs. If you don’t own any programs which can open a particular type of file then you are going to have difficulties viewing it, editing it, and even printing it. Luckily with the advent of the Internet a number of free, easy to use, file conversion tools has emerged. One of the best is Zamzar due to its simplicity and extensive list of supported formats..
So how does one use Zamzar to convert a file? Let’s pretend we have a “gif” image named Portrait.gif and we would like to convert it to a “jpg”.
  1. Head over their homepage and familiarize yourself with its layout. You should see that, by default, the “convert files” tab is selected; this is what we want.
  2. Begin with step 1; click on the browse button and select Portrait.gif (for our example).
  3. Click on the convert file(s) menu and, under the image formats section, select “jpg”.
  4. Enter your email address into the text box located under step 3.
  5. Hit the convert button.
Within a minute or two you will receive an email from Zamzar specifying that your file has been converted and is ready to be downloaded. Click on the appropriate link within the email and you will be taken to a webpage where you can download the converted version of your file. That’s it!
As you can see, the great thing about online file converters is that you need not install any additional software on your computer. All you need is an Internet connection and a browser.

Send Large Files With Encryption and Security-Stream File

Sending large files through email attachments are not possible, because there is certain limit on file size for attaching a file with your email. For Gmail and Yahoo you can only attach file upto 20 MB, and for Hotmail you can only attach file upto 10 MB size.
If you want to send large files to your friends, then you have to use other services, and not every service is free. They charge for sending large files. But today i want to share a website which allow you to send upto 150 MB size of file for free.
Stream File provide a great way to send large files with better security. Upload file with securing a password, then download the file using the password you entered for your file. Stream File will save the file in there data base, and you can then send the file to your friends. Your friend can only download the file, when he will enter the password you created during the uploading stage. This is one of the best way to send any file with encryption and security.

How to Send Large Files with Encryption and Security?

Visit Stream File and you will see the screen (as the above screen shot). Type the email address of your friend in the first box. Then click on the brows button and select the file you want to upload. Give tick to the “I accept the TOS” button and click on “Stream Now” button. Wait for uploading, and after completion enter the password and send it to your friend.

15 Coolest Firefox Tricks Ever

Everybody’s favorite open-source browser, Firefox, is great right out of the box. And by adding some of the awesome extensions available out there, the browser just gets better and better.
But look under the hood, and there are a bunch of hidden (and some not-so-secret) tips and tricks available that will crank Firefox up and pimp your browser. Make it faster, cooler, more efficient. Get to be a Jedi master with the following cool Firefox tricks.
1) More screen space. Make your icons small. Go to View – Toolbars – Customize and check the “Use small icons” box.

2) Smart keywords. If there’s a search you use a lot (let’s say IMDB.com’s people search), this is an awesome tool that not many people use. Right-click on the search box, select “Add a Keyword for this search”, give the keyword a name and an easy-to-type and easy-to-remember shortcut name (let’s say “actor”) and save it. Now, when you want to do an actor search, go to Firefox’s address bar, type “actor” and the name of the actor and press return. Instant search! You can do this with any search box.
3) Keyboard shortcuts. This is where you become a real Jedi. It just takes a little while to learn these, but once you do, your browsing will be super fast. Here are some of the most common (and my personal favs):
  • Spacebar (page down)
  • Shift-Spacebar (page up)
  • Ctrl+F (find)
  • Alt-N (find next)
  • Ctrl+D (bookmark page)
  • Ctrl+T (new tab)
  • Ctrl+K (go to search box)
  • Ctrl+L (go to address bar)
  • Ctrl+= (increase text size)
  • Ctrl+- (decrease text size)
  • Ctrl-W (close tab)
  • F5 (reload)
  • Alt-Home (go to home page)
4) Auto-complete. This is another keyboard shortcut, but it’s not commonly known and very useful. Go to the address bar (Control-L) and type the name of the site without the “www” or the “.com”. Let’s say “google”. Then press Control-Enter, and it will automatically fill in the “www” and the “.com” and take you there – like magic! For .net addresses, press Shift-Enter, and for .org addresses, press Control-Shift-Enter.
